Non Partisan Policy
The purpose of the League of Women Voters is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League of women Voters is nonpartisan in that it does not support or oppose any political party or candidate. It does encourage members, as individuals, to participate actively in the political process.
Participation in political activities by League Board Members may reflect on the nonpartisanship of the organization. Questions regarding specific activities by Board Members will be presented to the Board to determine if there is a conflict. All elected officers of the LWVWI and the Voters Service Chair and the Forum Committee Chair shall not hold public elected office, particiapte in campaigns for individuals, including financial contributions, or have an offical position in party organization.
Political activities of a spouse or relative of a board member are separate and distinct from activities of the Board Member.
Public notices of the resignation of a board member to campaign in a partisan manner or run for office shall be carefully worded to avoid the appearance of endorsing the Board Members' candidacy or political affiliation.
It is the responsibility of all League members to keep political activity and League activity separate and distinct.

LWV is an organization fully committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in principle and in practice. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy.
There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, gender identity, ethnicity, race, native or indigenous origin, age, generation, sexual orientation, culture, religion, belief system, marital status, parental status, socioeconomic status, language, accent, ability status, mental health, educational level or background, geography, nationality, work style, work experience, job role function, thinking style, personality type, physical appearance, political perspective or affiliation and/or any other characteristic that can be identified as recognizing or illustrating diversity.
